Kayla and David | Tiffin Ohio Farm Engagement Session

Kayla and David are hands down two of the sweetest, most fun and humble people I have ever met! I was so excited when she picked me for her wedding photographer and we began planning their engagement session in Tiffin, Ohio!

Kayla had found me on instagram, and when I was low-key scrolling her feed, I knew they were my type of people. She loves tacos and margaritas (a girl after my own heart!) and David loves grilling and the outdoors! I remember stumbling on her post about their proposal and their story instantly caught my attention!

A proposal straight from a movie

Their proposal started with David taking her to a spa for the morning while he had a “surprise” to prepare for her. They went to a brewery, winery, nice restaurant, and then back to their cabin where he led her out back by the fire into a ring of candles filled with rose petals. Here he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Of course she cried and said yes. She began crying before he could even ask! Seriously, could it have been any more perfect?

How their story started is equally as sweet! Kayla and David met when they were both Math Tutors at University of Findlay. Ironically Kayla almost didn’t attend Findlay! She started off at another college and didn’t feel she fit in there. Everyone had always expected her to attend Findlay and she was so against it just to prove a point! After the first university didn’t feel right, she decided to give Findlay a try. Thankfully she did, because it felt like home and led her to David!

It was only fitting that we start their engagement session where everything started for these two. Kayla had wanted a fall engagement session and our schedules lined up perfectly that I had a beautiful Sunday to travel to meet them at The University of Findlay!

Kayla and David arrived dressed perfectly for fall and the colors on campus! Her burnt orange dress and his gray shirt were just right to tie in the University but still have the romantic feel! We had so much fun walking the campus and taking photos at some of their favorite spots! I have to say my personal favorite was in front of the beautiful brick of the main building!

Horses and Dogs and Cats, Oh My!

After we wrapped up at the campus, we headed to Kayla’s family horse farm in Tiffin, Ohio. The long driveway led to a beautiful white barn and a stunning brick house. Kayla’s mom was there prepping one of their prized horses to join them for some photos!

If you know anything about me, you know my love for dogs is unmatched. So, when Kayla and David got out of the car with their new puppy Daisy, I was overjoyed! She was the cutest thing I have ever seen! She was so well behaved (when she wasn’t tackling the barn cats)!

The barn and pastures were a beautiful backdrop for their more casual outfits. It was awesome to be able to tie in something Kayla is so passionate about into their session when we added in her horse! She was super sassy and wanted to flaunt her attitude as we tried to get her squared up and in place. Despite her challenging us, we still got some great photos! Her attitude faded quickly when we let her out to roam the pasture in the background of my favorite photos of the whole session! BONUS! We even got Bella and Daisy in the same photo!

Fall Leaves and Dirt Paths

Kayla and David’s final outfits were absolutely perfect for wrapping up their session just as the sun was setting! She was so excited for the hat she had found to tie it all together! They even had a matching jean jacket for their puppy, Daisy! But Daisy’s energy quickly faded as she rolled over to let us know she wanted no more photos!

While we let Daisy rest, David and Kayla shared some super sweet laughs and great moments! We got to use the path that led into the distance surrounded by trees that were starting to grace us with some beautiful fall color!

It’s amazing how fast time flies when you are having fun, because before we knew it the sun was setting and our time left with daylight was coming to a close. We began the end of their session in the walkway that led to the front door of her grandmother’s house. I love the way the doorway and red flowers framed them perfectly to really add some WOW to their photos! Racing the setting sun we wrapped up with just a couple quick photos by the pond behind the house.

Their session was magical! We had so much fun laughing and I loved learning so much about these two amazing people. I can’t wait for their wedding next August at The Winerie.
